Performances
Jared Leto gives Ares depth and vulnerability, as the character is torn between programmed thinking and the beginning of emotion. The film is based on the emotional core of his acting, which renders Ares human-like in spite of his being digital. Evan Peters is a bright example of the conflicted scientist who does not know what to be loyal or afraid of, which puts tension into each scene.
Sophia Lane is warm, morally sound, and serves as a moral compass of the story. The presence of an actor, Marcus Reed, who supports the antagonist with his motives, makes it even more tense. The cast forms a dynamic ensemble which adds more dramatic and thematic weight to the movie.
Direction and Screenplay
Director Evan Michaels gives the audience the best of both worlds, the digital furor and action and the emotional nature of the story despite the scale of the movie. His visual treatment enlarges the Tron world with neon scenery, developing architecture, and stunning effects. The direction is very strict in rhythm that contributes to tension and development of characters.
Screenwriter Dana Wilcox creates a film with a flowing storyline, significant dialogue and conflict. The action and world-building mix with the themes of identity and consciousness. The scenes contribute to the character development and move the storyline of the sci-fi in a consistent, exciting way.
Music
Orion Pierce, the music director, incorporates modern electronic beats with traditional Tron-style synth waves, to form an impressive, immersive score. Rapid rhythmic sounds enhance the action scenes and reduce every pursuit and fight to a visual-auditory spectacle. There are also emotional strings in the form of gentle digital music to highlight the internal conflict of Ares.
Sound design incorporates iconic Grid reverberations, energy pulses, and hums in the atmosphere adding to the sense of futuristic in the film. The transitions between the tracks are also smooth and cinematic and they aid in the pacing. The music turns into one of the characteristics of the movie.
Themes
The movie touches upon identity, evolution and emotional issues of artificial life. It raises questions about the nature of living and the way in which consciousness is created in human beings and digital creatures. These are some of the themes that make Ares more than an ordinary action movie.
Additional themes are technological ethics, trust, responsibility and cost of innovation. Characters face their fears, tough decisions and reinvent connection between two worlds. These stratified concepts make the story have a lasting meaning.
